The Naval Air Systems Command plans to award a sole-source contract to Raytheon Systems Corporation in Tucson, AZ, for the production of 75 AGM-154C all-up rounds (AUR) as part of the JSOW Unitary Low Rate Initial Production program. This contract also includes the provision of special tooling and test equipment, sustaining engineering, program management, and the necessary technical and administrative/financial data to support the JSOW-C variant. Being the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the JSOW Unitary weapon system, Raytheon is uniquely qualified to fulfill this contract, which is scheduled to last for two years and three months starting from December 2002. There is a potential for the quantity of weapons to increase due to possible Foreign Military Sales, indicating an opportunity for additional orders beyond the initial production. The Naval Air Systems Command office located in Patuxent River, Maryland, is overseeing the contract, with Jeffrey J Guarnero serving as the contract specialist point of contact. This contract reflects a continued investment in the development and support of advanced precision-guided munitions by the Department of Defense.
