AI Contract Overview

The contract pertains to the Modeling, Simulation and Integration (MS&I) 2014 acquisition, initially advertised as a full and open Request for Information (RFI) in October 2014. After thorough market research and analysis by the U.S. Government as of August 24, 2015, it was determined that the requirements of the acquisition could only be satisfied by a single responsible source due to the sensitive nature of the work and national security considerations. Consequently, the decision was made to proceed with a classified sole source acquisition under the authorities allowed by the Federal Acquisition Regulation, specifically FAR 6.302-1 and FAR 6.302-6, which permit acquisition without full and open competition when only one source is responsible or when national security is at stake. The solicitation, identified by the number MS_I2014, falls under the NAICS code 541330, which covers engineering services. While the initial RFI has been officially closed and no further information requests will be entertained, the contract remains active as a pre-solicitation notice as of June 2016. The contracting manager for this acquisition is Josephine Marcano, reachable via phone or email, who serves as the primary point of contact. The contract involves classified work, and as such, specific details about the place of performance and agency involvement have been withheld to protect sensitive information.
