The U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, plans to award a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order to Rockwell Collins for 15 MPE 1.12 PLGR Cards, which are critical GPS components used in the avionics system of the Raven Unmanned Air Vehicle (UAV). These cards provide essential global position and navigation data, enabling the Raven UAV to perform extended missions effectively. The lightweight and low power consumption features of the MPE 1.12 are crucial for maintaining the UAV’s low payload and maximizing flight duration, thereby enhancing intelligence gathering capabilities. Rockwell Collins is identified as the sole manufacturer and distributor of these GPS cards. While this procurement is intended to proceed on a sole source basis under FAR 6.302-1, the Government invites interested parties to express their capability or interest within five days of the synopsis publication. However, this notice is not a request for competitive proposals, and the Government retains discretion to decide whether to pursue a competitive procurement based on the input received. Responses are to be submitted to the Natick Contracting Division by the specified deadline. The contract details, including solicitation number and contact information, have been provided to facilitate any potential industry communication.

Full Description

NA Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Robert Morris Acquisition Center, Natick Contracting Division, Natick, MA intends to place a Firm Fixed Price, Purchase Order for a quantity of 15 MPE 1.12 PLGR Cards on a sole source basis with Rockwell Co llins, 400 Collins Rd N.E., Cedar Rapids, IA 52498. The MPE 1.12 PLGR Card is an integral piece of the electronic avionics system of the Raven UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle). This GPS card provides global position and location data to guide the Raven, which is essential to navigate the aircraft. The MPE 1.12’s size and weight is critical to maintaining the low payload of the Raven UAV. Lighter payload increases the flight duration, which in turn, allows for increased intelligence gathering and dissemi nation. It also generates very little heat and draws very little power, which is critical, as the system is battery powered. If less power is required by the Avionics suite to operate, the remaining power can be dedicated to powering the motor. This incr eases flight duration, which translates to longer missions. Rockwell Collins is the only manufacturer and sole distributor of the MPE 1.12 PLGR card. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit p roposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within five days after date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete with t his proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
