The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s Medium Altitude UAS Division plans to award a sole source contract to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI) for the retrofit of MQ-9A Block 5 Remotely Piloted Aircraft with Extended Range (ER), Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS), and Barrett Asymmetrical Digital Datalink Computer (Payload Multiplexer) modification kits. These upgraded aircraft will operate with a Block 30 Ground Control Station. GA-ASI has exclusive design, development, and manufacturing rights for the MQ-1 Predator and MQ-9 Reaper systems, possessing the specialized knowledge and technical data required to fulfill this requirement. Because the Government does not hold full data rights and to avoid duplication of costs, the contract will be awarded under sole source authority consistent with relevant federal acquisition regulations. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 336411, and while not open for competitive proposals, subcontracting opportunities may be explored with interested parties directed to contact GA-ASI. Responders must provide employee numbers relative to the small business size standard and include their DUNS number and CAGE code. Point of contact for government inquiries includes contract specialists and officials based at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The contract aims to enhance MQ-9 Reaper capabilities through a follow-on program named FORCE (Follow-On Reaper Capability Enhancement), improving operational reach and communication capabilities of the unmanned aircraft.
