The U.S. Department of Commerce, National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, National Environmental Satellite, Data and Information Service (DOC/NOAA/NESDIS) intends to modify an existing contract (DG133E-05-SE-5016) with the University of Miami to extend services for continued research in coral-based climate studies for the period commencing from time of award through July 31, 2009. This study involves measuring geochemical and coral growth proxy indicators for temperature and salinity in coral skeletons from corals collected from Florida and St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The Florida coral will be analyzed for ?18O and Sr/Ca at a resolution of 2-3 samples a year over its entire 300 year record. A geochemical record will be replicated along three transects in the same coral over the upper 100 years. One of these three transects is in the process of completing for work in 2007-2008. The second transect will be drilled in 2008-2009. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100k) NAICS code 541710. This is not a request for a competitive proposal. It is a notice of intent to modify an existing contract for continued research.

NOAAPort Replacement Capabilities
Solicitation # 142083-27-0002
The Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the National Weather Service (NWS) have issued Request for Information (RFI) No. 142083-27-0002 to conduct market research for the replacement of the legacy NOAAPort Satellite Broadcast Network (SBN). The government is seeking information on innovative, high-reliability distribution capabilities—which could be cloud-based, terrestrial, satellite, or hybrid—to deliver mission-critical weather data to a geographically dispersed user community. The replacement system must support the exchange, ingestion, processing, and distribution of data products and must integrate with the NWS Hydrometeorological Interactive Virtual Environment (HIVE) and the Centralized Integrated Real-Time Repository for Unified Services (CIRRUS) using common internet protocols such as APIs and MQTT. This notice is for planning purposes only and is not a solicitation for award; no funds have been authorized or appropriated for this effort at this time. The NWS intends to deactivate the legacy SBN as early as August 31, 2027, and is requesting industry feedback on technical architectures, cloud migration strategies, security protocols, and rough order of magnitude cost estimates. Interested respondents must submit their responses in Microsoft Word or PDF format to the designated points of contact by October 29, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The government is utilizing this RFI to inform its acquisition strategy and evaluate potential small business set-aside opportunities under NAICS code 541512.
