MWD Rialto Pipeline Treatment Plan for Golden Mussel Mitigation

The California Department of Water Resources is implementing the MWD Rialto Pipeline Treatment Plan to mitigate golden mussel infestation. The project involves injecting EarthTec QZ at the downstream bulkhead gate slot of the Devil Canyon Second Afterbay in San Bernardino County to prevent the settlement and establishment of mussels within the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California's Rialto Pipeline and associated downstream member agency pipelines. All work and access will be conducted within the Department of Water Resources right of way. Operational requirements include the staging of a 6,300-gallon Ironclad poly cube on concrete immediately adjacent to the afterbay structure, which must be enclosed by a 12x25 foot spill berm for secondary containment. The project is classified as routine maintenance and falls under a Class 1 Categorical Exemption for CEQA compliance. Performance will take place at the Devil Canyon Second Afterbay at mile marker 412.9, located near Memory Lane and Devil Canyon Road.
