National Trails Highway (NTH) Bridge 56 Bagdad Ditch - Curb Replacement

The San Bernardino County Flood Control District is seeking to perform in-kind curb replacement at National Trails Highway Bridge 56, Bridge No. 54C0259, located at Bagdad Ditch approximately 20.90 miles east of Amboy Road in San Bernardino, California. This routine maintenance project is required to restore infrastructure damaged during a traffic accident on May 22, 2025. The scope of work involves the removal and replacement of a damaged curb on the north side of the bridge, measuring approximately 4.7 feet wide by 59 feet long, in accordance with approved structural plans. All activities will be conducted within the existing county right-of-way using light equipment, specifically a rubber tire loader and a rubber track skid steer. The project is expected to be completed within approximately 15 days and will utilize temporary electronic traffic control to reduce the roadway to a single lane during construction. Because the work is limited to the maintenance of existing infrastructure and does not involve vegetation removal, excavation, or utility relocation, it is classified under CEQA Class I Categorical and Common Sense exemptions due to the lack of significant environmental impacts. The project is managed by the San Bernardino County Department of Public Works Environmental Management Division, with Ayida Smith serving as the primary point of contact.
