The Naval Air Systems Command is inviting industry participation to the Naval UAS Interface Control Working Group (ICWG) Industry Day scheduled for June 7, 2012, in California, Maryland. This event marks the initial meeting aimed at involving industry in defining open systems interfaces for Naval Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). The ICWG, led by the Program Executive Office for Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO U&W) Common Standards and Interoperability Office, is focused on developing open interface profiles to enhance interoperability, reduce costs, and spur innovation across Naval UAS programs. The group's efforts include configuration-managed interface profiles to be implemented by individual Program Managers according to their specific program requirements. Participation in this event is voluntary, unclassified, and nonproprietary, with no contracts or payments anticipated as a result of attendance. Interested parties must register by June 1, 2012, providing detailed personal and company information for security clearance. The day will include presentations on the ICWG's objectives and planned activities, followed by working group sessions addressing key technical challenges. The process promotes open dialogue among government, industry, and academic participants while ensuring compliance with intellectual property and export control rules. To facilitate broad collaboration, this event and subsequent meetings encourage resolving technical issues at the lowest level, with oversight retained by the PEO U&W. Industry participants are reminded to take care to avoid conflicts of interest that could impact future competitive Navy acquisitions. Questions and registration are managed through designated Navy contacts, emphasizing transparency and broad industry engagement in shaping the future of Naval UAS interfaces.
