AI Contract Overview
This contract covers the procurement of hypodermic needles with a gauge size of 21, supplied in boxes containing 12 needles each. The needles must have a shelf life of 60 months, with no more than 9 months elapsed between manufacture and delivery to the government. Packaging requirements mandate that each unit be sealed in a protective container to prevent damage, and all units must be packed in suitable commercial shipping containers to ensure safe delivery using the lowest possible transport rate to the specified destination. Marking on all containers must comply with Medical Marking Standard No. 1 and include key information such as the National Stock Number (NSN), manufacturer and Commercial and Government Entity (CAGE) codes, manufacturing and expiration dates, contract or lot numbers, and control numbers. The contract specifies adherence to FDA regulations for the device, and involves multiple approved manufacturers including Medline Industries, Becton Dickinson, and Tribalco LLC. Delivery is FOB destination with a requirement for shipment within 20 days of order, and shipments will be inspected and accepted at the destination point. Packaging must conform to ASTM D3951 standards with additional DoD specifications taking precedence, and palletization follows DLA’s packaging requirements. The contract includes detailed instructions for labeling, transportation, and shipping to a naval vessel (USS Gridley DDG 101 at FPO AP 96666), with expedited shipping required by the fastest traceable means except parcel post. The solicitation is managed by the Department of Defense’s Medical Supply Chain office, with a response deadline and points of contact provided for vendor communication.
