The Army Targets Management Office is hosting the Fifth Industry Day Forum for the New Generation Army Target System (NGATS) on January 20, 2004, in Huntsville, Alabama. This event aims to provide detailed discussions on the NGATS qualification process procedures, architecture specifications, and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). The forum invites all companies involved in producing target hardware, battlefield effects simulators, target control, and scoring systems for live fire ranges. Key documents such as the ICDs, architecture specifications, and qualification process procedures will be made available for review prior to the meeting, and participants are encouraged to familiarize themselves and submit questions or comments in writing. NGATS is designed to replace current live fire range target systems with interchangeable target components that improve performance while reducing life cycle costs. The program plans to begin fielding a Block I system in late FY06, with subsequent blocks to follow. Industry Day registration requires submission by January 16, 2004, and is open to both U.S. and foreign national personnel, with specific instructions for foreign attendees. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at CSC Inc. facilities, including a briefing, technical discussions, and a tour of a component acceptance test cell. All discussions will be unclassified, and post-event materials will be published online. The anticipated prime contract award for NGATS-qualified targetry components is expected in mid-FY 2005, with qualification testing timelines and requirements outlined in the ICDs and related specifications.
