The New Marina del Rey Parking Structure Project, managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches and Harbors, involves the construction of a new two-story, three-tier parking facility on an approximately 2.8-acre site near the intersection of Mindanao Way and Admiralty Way in Marina del Rey, California. Approved by the County of Los Angeles Regional Planning Commission, the project includes a multi-tiered structure on the east portion of the site and a surface parking lot on the west, functioning as a single 24-hour facility to serve public demand and special events at Burton Chace Park. Beyond parking, the scope of work encompasses several community-oriented enhancements, including a parklet, public art components, accent paving for crosswalks and bicycle crossings, a shade canopy over a portion of the Marvin Braude Bikeway, an observation balcony, and various wayfinding and educational signage. The project is subject to several environmental and regulatory requirements, having received a Coastal Development Permit, a Conditional Use Permit, and a Mitigated Negative Declaration. Construction is anticipated to last approximately 24 months and must adhere to the Marina del Rey Design Guidelines and the County of Los Angeles BMP Manual. Key special requirements include the implementation of a Water Quality Management Plan prepared by a licensed professional and strict adherence to tribal monitoring protocols during ground-disturbing activities, following consultations with the Gabrieleno Band of Mission Indians - Kizh Nation and the Gabrielino Tongva Indians of California. Additionally, the facility must incorporate approximately eight ADA-accessible spaces to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
