Broward County Transportation Department is seeking to designate Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc. as the sole source provider for a consultant to review the technical and cost aspects of an updated tunnel alternative for passenger rail crossing the New River. This action is based on Jacobs' prior involvement and expertise in evaluating similar tunnel proposals, which positions them to perform the current work efficiently, saving time and costs. The contract duration is proposed for 180 days, and this process is initiated under the county’s procurement code to determine if other qualified vendors exist. Interested vendors are invited to submit their information and documentation demonstrating their capability or contesting the sole source designation through an electronic response via Periscope S2G by the specified deadline. The notice emphasizes that this is not a request for pricing or a purchase commitment, but rather an effort to identify potential alternative sources. The county will review submissions to verify if other qualified vendors meet the specifications; if none are found, the contract may be awarded to Jacobs without further competition. Vendors are encouraged to submit complete responses early and to follow all procedural instructions carefully. The final decision on whether to proceed with a sole source or to consider other vendors will be made by the Director of Purchasing, and such determinations are final and not subject to protest under the county’s procurement rules.
