The City of Merritt is seeking proposals from qualified and experienced companies to carry out repair and replacement work on the mechanical mezzanine space at the Nicola Valley Aquatic Centre. The scope includes selective demolition of existing structural elements such as reinforced concrete slabs, steel decking, and timber shoring, followed by the installation of new structural steel, steel decking, reinforced concrete slabs, drainage system modifications including floor drains, and finishing works like painting soffits and installing housekeeping concrete slabs. Protective hoarding must be installed to safeguard existing equipment during demolition. The work location is specified as 2040 Mamette Avenue, Merritt, BC, with detailed requirements outlined in the RFP documents and drawings. The project’s construction is tightly scheduled within a mandated shutdown period from August 1 to September 30, 2026, during which all public and pedestrian access to the Aquatic Centre will be restricted. This period includes a 5-day decommissioning phase at the start and a 7-day recommissioning phase at the end, with some non-critical work allowed to overlap these phases. Contractors may begin limited non-destructive activities prior to the shutdown with approval. The contract will be executed under the CCDC2 – 2020 Stipulated Price Contract form, modified by supplementary conditions. Interested parties are required to submit proposals by February 10, 2026, through the City’s designated vendor platform, with budget details kept confidential but internally approved.
