The Naval Air Systems Command plans to issue a delivery order under Basic Ordering Agreement N00019-07-G-0008 to the Bell-Boeing Joint Project Office for non-recurring engineering services aimed at demonstrating, integrating, and qualifying the Interim Defensive Weapon System (IDWS) mission kit for the MV-22 tiltrotor aircraft. This effort encompasses a range of technical activities including design reviews, functional fit and ground tests, flight test planning, data analysis, and program management. Additionally, the contract will provide initial logistics support for deployed MV-22 aircraft equipped with the IDWS, covering maintenance and operations planning, training, troubleshooting, spare parts and repairs management, as well as reliability performance monitoring and trend analysis. Bell-Boeing is the sole source for this work due to their exclusive position as the designer, developer, and producer of the V-22 Tilt-Rotor Aircraft, possessing proprietary technical data and the specialized expertise required to integrate and support aircraft components with tiltrotor technology. The company also maintains the infrastructure necessary to deliver the IDWS support within the timeframe needed to meet operational and combat requirements. The activity will be performed in Amarillo, Texas, with contract oversight by Naval Air Systems Command at Patuxent River, Maryland. Potential subcontracting inquiries can be directed to a contact at Bell Helicopter.
