North Country Navigator Program

The ONA North Country Navigator program fulfills the mission and needs of New York State and the Office for New Americans as the most reliable source of comprehensive referrals and resources available to new Americans. Due to unpredictable and rapidly changing federal policies, accurate information provided by this program is crucial to the livelihood of those impacted by these drastic changes. Located along the Canadian border, this organization seeks to ensure safety and dignity of the new American clients the program serves through the facilitation of legal assistance, coordination and management of referrals and appointments, coordination and connection with the ONA Hotline, network building and collaboration through scheduled roundtables and evaluation and sharing of information regarding community trends with DOS ONA. This valuable information has allowed ONA to expand into the region with other programs. The target population for these funds are immigrants residing in New York State; families of mixed status with at least one family member in New York; immigrants with a sponsor in New York; and/or immigrant business owners in New York. In addition, this grant seeks to serve immigrants in transit to Canada, at any port of entry in the North Country region. This will extend the current contract with St. Joseph Community Outreach Center - for a period of 9 months through 8/31/2026, to ensure that ONA clients in the North Country have access to services while ONA finalizes a competitive procurement to award a new contract for the ONA North Country Navigator program.
