The 802nd Contracting Squadron at Lackland Air Force Base plans to award a sole source contract to Motorola, Inc. for the maintenance and repair of Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Trunking Systems. This procurement is being executed under FAR 6.302-1 due to the proprietary nature of Motorola’s technology and the requirement for compatibility with existing government-owned equipment. The contract falls under NAICS code 811213, which pertains to communication equipment repair services, with a small business size standard of $7 million. Although this notice signifies an intent to award without competitive bidding, interested and responsible sources are invited to submit proposals by July 24, 2012, for consideration, but the government reserves the right to proceed without competition based on responses received. Submissions may be sent via fax, email, or postal mail to the designated contract specialist, Shirley J. Jones, at the 802d Contracting Squadron located at JBSA Lackland, Texas. The agency emphasizes that it will not reimburse costs associated with proposal preparation. The contract process is managed by the Department of Defense office at Lackland AFB, with both a contract specialist and contracting officer available as points of contact for further information. This sole source award reflects the critical nature of maintaining communication systems integral to government operations and the necessity of continuing service with the proprietary system.
