Solicitation details, issuing organization, response deadlines, documents, and interested companies for this government contract opportunity.
AI Contract Overview
NASA’s Glenn Research Center plans to award a sole source firm fixed-price contract to Aitech Defense Systems, Inc. for the delivery of Service Pack 0 space-qualified, radiation-tolerant single-board computers, which are proprietary and currently integral to ground test architectures at both Glenn and Johnson Space Center. These systems are critical for ongoing risk reduction activities in software test labs, and replacing them would necessitate significant rework and delay mission-critical testing timelines, with flight hardware required by Fall 2027 to support system-level evaluations near year-end. The procurement follows FAR Part 12 and Part 15 authorities, justified under FAR 6.103-1(b) due to Aitech being the only responsible source capable of meeting the unique requirements. The NAICS code is 334111 for Electronic Computer Manufacturing, and interested parties may submit capabilities documentation via email by August 14, 2026, though the government retains full discretion to proceed without competition. Oral communications are prohibited, and the NASA Ombudsman clause applies for any concerns regarding the acquisition process.

Full Description
NASA’s Glenn Research Center (GRC) intends to negotiate a sole source contract with Aitech Defense Systems, Inc. for Service Pack 0 (SP0) space-qualified, radiation-tolerant single-board computers. Currently, SP0 single-controller computers are proprietary designs from Aitech Defense Systems, Inc.
SP0s currently reside within the existing ground test architecture at both GRC avionics group and JSC within Software Test Labs. This existing hardware will be used to reduce risk in these areas prior to the delivery of new hardware. Moving away from SP0s would result in significant deferral of risk reduction, as well as the need to update the software labs. The SP0 computers have been identified to fit the project needs and the schedule to meet these needs requires delivery of flight hardware by Fall-2027 (~12 months), to support system level testing near the end-2027.
This procurement is being conducted in accordance with FAR Part 12 – Acquisition of Commercial Products and Commercial Services and FAR Part 15 – Contracting by Negotiation. NASA GRC anticipates awarding a firm fixed-price contract to Aitech Defense Systems, Inc. as the only responsible source reasonably available to satisfy the agency requirements under the authority of FAR 6.103-1(b).
The applicable NAICS Code is 334111 – Electronic Computer Manufacturing
Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort electronically via email to the identified point of contact not later than 5:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on August 14, 2026. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this acquisition on a competitive basis. A determination by the Government not to compete this acquisition on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
Oral communications are not acceptable in response to this notice.
NASA Clause 1852.215-84, Ombudsman, is applicable. The Center Ombudsman for this acquisition can be found at: https://www.hq.nasa.gov/office/procurement/regs/Procurement-Ombuds-Comp-Advocate-Listing.pdf
