AI Contract Overview
This contract involves the procurement of a single nut, identified by NSN 5310-01-057-5702, to be delivered within 20 days to the Trident Refit Facility in Kings Bay, Georgia. The contract includes specific requirements for physical identification, packaging, marking, and quality assurance under the Department of Defense standards. Notably, there is no approved technical data package available for competitive procurement, and some data is proprietary or insufficient, indicating a potentially sole-source acquisition. The item must comply with strict regulations prohibiting the intentional addition of mercury or mercury compounds, except in designated exceptions such as certain batteries or sensors. The contract references multiple military standards for packaging (MIL-STD-2073-1E), marking (MIL-STD-129), sampling inspection (MIL-STD-1916 or ASQ H1331), and DLA packaging requirements, ensuring the item meets defense quality and handling criteria. Inspection and acceptance will occur at the destination, with a requirement to ship by the fastest traceable means excluding parcel post. The contract specifies zero tolerance for quantity variance and sets out detailed preservation and packaging methods, emphasizing the critical nature of compliance for delivery to a key naval facility. The solicitation was issued by the Department of Defense's ASC Commodities Division with a response deadline and includes contact information for the contracting officer.
