The Public Health Lead Investigation (PHLI) Program complies with federal and state protocols when determining where the lead hazards exist in a property suspected of being a possible source of a child's lead poisoning.  To identify the source, a collection of environmental samples (dust, paint chips, water, soil or other non-property sources) is required.  In addition, according to the Ohio Administrative Code, all samples must be submitted to an Ohio-approved environmental lead laboratory for analysis. The PHLI Program has worked in partnership with a laboratory to provide the analysis of the samples required to determine the probable source of exposure of a lead-poisoned child.  The services also included the analysis of non-property sources such as spices, folk remedies, and other consumer products.  The laboratory shall have the means to analyze dust, paint chips, soil, water, and other non-property samples such as spices, folk remedies, and consumer products for lead content.  Analysis shall be conducted in accordance with all state and federal regulations and protocols.
