Old Wards Ferry Replacement Project

Tuolumne County, in cooperation with Caltrans, intends to replace the Old Wards Ferry Bridge crossing Curtis Creek in Sonora, California. The project involves constructing a new 61-foot long and 26-foot wide single-span bridge featuring a cast-in-place, prestressed concrete slab superstructure. To minimize approach roadway work, the new structure will follow the existing horizontal alignment with a slightly lowered profile grade. The bridge will be supported by seat type abutments founded on cast-in-drilled-hole concrete piles. Because the structure spans Curtis Creek, the design ensures that no new footings will be placed directly in the creek. This forecast project is managed by Tuolumne County with Denise Zitnik serving as the primary point of contact.
