Full Description

The Proposed Project would modify the existing storm drain system to divert urban drainage from the existing storm drain utility collection system on Olivier Street to the City’s sanitary sewer system. Modifications to the existing underground storm drain system would include construction of a wet well, pump, and ancillary improvements which would include a new electrical panel, trash capture device, and SmartCover monitoring system. By capturing and removing dry-weather flows that are currently discharged to Monterey Bay, the Proposed Project would reduce dry-weather urban runoff discharges to Monterey Bay by diverting nuisance and low-flow urban runoff to the sanitary sewer system for treatment and indirect potable reuse. Additionally, water diverted through the Proposed Project would provide ancillary benefits to the community by contributing to regional recycled water production through the Pure Water Monterey Program. The Proposed Project would provide approximately 10-12 acre-feet per year (“AFY”) of recycled water.
