Transport Canada requires the services of a Contractor to undertake an Operational Review of a Ferry Services Operator to ensure: • compliance with Canadian statutes, including those related to the International Maritime Organization (IMO); • asset maintenance is being carried in accordance with planned and clear maintenance schedules, OEM supplier recommendations, and industry best practices. Procedures and processes are in place to monitor and track causes of equipment or machinery failures; • that the operator’s safety management system (SMS) complies with best practices, including related to emergency management; and • operator’s risk management practices and crewing practices are consistent with industry best practice. The purpose of the Operational Review is to identify any potential deficiencies and to make recommendations with regard to action that should be taken to address them.
