Medical Experts provide the medical expertise necessary for the successful investigation and prosecution of professional medical conduct cases. Duties include reviewing patient records, researching current medical standards, writing opinions, providing guidance to staff attorneys and providing expert testimony at State Board for Professional Medical Conduct Administrative Hearings. Consultant services are acquired on an as-needed basis by location and specialty. Resumes are kept on file to be accessed for this purpose. Fees: Fixed rates of $200 per hour for record review and report writing, $500 per hour for pre-hearing consultation with the State's attorney; and $2,000 per diem for testimony at Administrative Hearings. Requirements: Candidates must be licensed and currently registered to practice medicine in New York State; Boad certified in their specialty; actively participating with six years of post-license expertise and have no history of disciplinary action in any state.
