AI Contract Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) is seeking proposals from qualified research firms to evaluate the costs, benefits, and strategic trade-offs associated with forest certification systems, specifically FSC, SFI, and ATFS, across various public land ownerships in Wisconsin. The goal is to identify the most effective certification strategies that maximize economic, environmental, and social benefits for WDNR-managed lands, County Forests, the Managed Forest Law group certificate, and the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands. The project aims to analyze whether maintaining single or multiple certifications offers better efficiency and value, including potential cost savings and management efficiencies, while also considering regional impacts on the forest industry in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. The scope involves assessing the advantages of different certification approaches, identifying the most beneficial strategies for each land ownership type, and exploring how these strategies support regional forestry interests. The firm will also analyze management efficiencies and potential inefficiencies in maintaining multiple certifications. The contract has a budget cap of $60,000, with questions due by March 4, 2025, and proposals due by March 13, 2025. The project is part of a solicitation titled "Optimizing Forestry Certification Strategies," managed by the Wisconsin DNR, with contact information provided for further inquiries.
