On February 25, 2015 SAJ-CT Contracting Office was notified of a sunken barge at Ft Pierce Inlet which was blocking the navigable channel. Emergency response was required for removal. CT was informed that the inlet was shut down and the Coast Guard was not allowing passage to any ships. CT was informed that a contractor named Resolve, Inc. was operating in the area under contract (BOA) HSCG84-13-A-M00002 Mod P00001 and was available for use on a time-and-materials basis. The BOA had established rates, which was considered in our decision to use this tool. Removal of the sunken barge would require the use of specialized equipment and our technical team determined that Resolve had the necessary equipment for this type work.

Notice of Intent to solicit a single source – Fish and Macroinvertebrate (Nekton) Monitoring (St. Johns River)
Solicitation # W912EP-27-Q-1CTH
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to award a sole-source contract to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The project focuses on nekton monitoring within selected zones and tributaries of the Lower St. Johns River in Northeast Florida. This effort is categorized under NAICS code 541620 for Environmental Consulting Services and is designed to assess the ecological impacts of a 2022 channel deepening project that increased the river depth to 47 feet to accommodate larger vessels for the Jacksonville Port Authority. The primary objective is to evaluate how changes in salinity and water quality resulting from the deepening affect the spawning, recruitment, and population dynamics of commercially and recreationally important species, such as blue crab, white shrimp, and red drum. Monitoring will specifically target critical habitats between river kilometers 14 and 48, as well as areas upstream of Julington Creek, to determine if shifting salinity gradients are impacting nursery habitats or resident freshwater species. This long-term sampling will provide the necessary data to gauge the overall environmental effects of the channel modifications on the estuary's nekton assemblages.
