The Alaska Court System awarded contract PAL-C-26-0003 to YH Constructors, Inc. for the Palmer Courthouse Expansion and Renovation project in the amount of 5,250,982.00. This comprehensive construction project involves a multi-phase scope of work including the construction of a new Jury Assembly Building, the renovation of the Palmer State Office Building basement, the creation of new courtrooms and chambers, and the renovation of the existing connector. The project requires significant architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing upgrades, including the installation of a 60-inch concrete drywell for stormwater infiltration and specialized communications copper backbone cabling. Because the work takes place within an actively occupied judicial facility, the contractor must adhere to strict special conditions regarding noise restrictions, security protocols, dust control, and the implementation of phasing plans to ensure continuous court operations. The project was managed through a multi-step competitive bidding process with technical evaluations focusing on scheduling and phasing. On-site work was scheduled to commence by August 15, 2026, with a required substantial completion timeframe of 6.5 months from the start date.
