This will be a firm fixed price contract. Anticipated date of award is September 16, 2016. The accessories and parts include a FLLOG 3 MONO, 3-SLIT 180DF (5500450050 - 2 EA), T CHANNEL OPTICS UPGRADE FOR FLUOROLOG 3 (5500450070 - 1 EA), FLUOROLOG DETECTOR ASSEMBLY (UNCOOLED) (5500450416 - 1 EA), ADDITIONAL HV SUPPLY W/CABLE (F-HVADD) (500400514 - 1 EA), BOARD, FLUORESCENCE HIGH VOLTAGE ASSY (5500400469 - 1 EA), INSTALLATION OF FL3 UPGRADE (84202 - 1 ZCE), HANDLING (50000050 - 1 EA). The Management Unit of Dairy and Functional Foods has made a commitment towards identifying and investigating the molecular structures and mode of actions of bacteriocins produced by dairy lactic acid bacteria; and creating new bioactive and functionalized food protein systems through microstructuring, physical and chemical modifications of dairy proteins. These monochromators are part of an upgrade for the existing instrumentation, FluoroLog-3 fluorescence spectrometer. They will help bring the current system to the state of art level and will add increased capability to obtain better resolved, more accurate, more quantitative data and time efficient analysis in our studies on the fluorescence behavior of highly complexed systems containing proteins and other compounds such as bioactive compounds, bioactive peptides and polysaccharides. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement is solely at the discretion of the Government in accordance with FAR 13.106-1(b). This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR subpart 12.6 (current as of FAC 2005-89).
