PEN, SKIN MARKING

The pen is a sterile, disposable skin marker with a fine tip, designed for medical use and colored gentian violet. It is non-toxic and includes an integrated ruler with dual graduations ranging from 0 to 8 cm in 0.5 cm increments and alternatively from 0 to 70 mm in 1 mm increments. The device is individually sealed and classified as a D-day item for the Department of Defense. Each unit must be packaged in a sealed container that protects against damage or breakage and shipped in commercial exterior containers suitable for safe delivery at the lowest carrier rate to the specified delivery point. All packaging and marking must comply with Medical Marking Standard No. 1, which replaces MIL-STD-129, and labels must include the NSN, manufacturer and CAGE code, date of manufacture, expiration or retest date, and contract or lot number. All containers must clearly display the lot number and manufacture date prefixed with “MFD”. The item has a 24-month shelf life, and no more than four months may have passed from the date of manufacture to delivery to the government. The unit of issue is a package of 100 units, and the NSN is 6515-01-106-1352. The contract solicitation SPE2DS-26-T-248A incorporates DLA packaging and technical requirements, with compliance governed by the DLA Master List of Technical and Quality Requirements effective as of the solicitation or award date. Delivery is required within five days of award to Groton, Connecticut.
