Peterborough County Forest - Cavan and Havelock Depot Blocks Timber Sale

The Corporation of the County of Peterborough has issued Request for Offers RFO-01-2026 for a lump sum timber sale involving the right to cut and remove all standing timber marked with orange-glo paint. The project encompasses two primary locations: approximately 14.6 hectares in the Cavan Monaghan Township and 30.4 hectares at the County Roads Depot in Havelock-Belmont-Methuen Township. All harvesting, final restoration, and demobilization must be completed by December 30, 2028. Operations are prohibited on weekends and statutory holidays, with specific seasonal restrictions from April 15 to July 15 in 2027 and 2028 to comply with the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994. Qualified contractors must submit electronic bids in English by November 3, 2026. The evaluation process consists of three stages: a pass/fail review of mandatory requirements, a pass/fail verification of experience and references including three similar projects from the last five years, and a final pricing evaluation. Successful bidders must provide a 2,500 dollar security deposit, proof of WSIB coverage, and a Commercial General Liability insurance policy of at least 5,000,000 dollars per occurrence naming the County and respective townships as additional insureds. Strict operational standards apply, including the requirement to power wash equipment before site entry to prevent invasive species and maintaining stump heights between 30 cm and 60 cm.
