Phase 2 Storm Damage Repair of Los Vaqueros Road and Culvert 24 within the Los Vaqueros Watershed – FEMA 4683 Project (Notification of Lake or Streambed Alterat

The Phase 2 Storm Damage Repair of Los Vaqueros Road and Culvert 24 within the Los Vaqueros Watershed, also known as the FEMA 4683 Project, is an initiative executed by the Contra Costa Water District and approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife under Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement EPIMS Notification No. EPIMS-CCA-55581-R3. Located at Kellogg Creek in Contra Costa County, the project is designated as a Notice of Exemption under California Code of Regulations title 14, section 15301, Class 1, for minor alterations of existing public utility facilities. The scope of work involves the removal of an existing 72-inch corrugated metal pipe culvert and its replacement with a larger 84-inch culvert approximately 100 feet in length. Additionally, the project includes the restoration of the northbound lane shoulder of Los Vaqueros Road and the stabilization of the eroded roadway embankment through the construction of a soldier pile retaining wall with pre-cast concrete lagging. Project administration is managed by Cody Ericksen of the Contra Costa Water District, with environmental oversight provided by Sanjay Das of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.
