Pilot Project for Golden Mussel Treatment at Laterals 4L and 7R and Budget Agumentation

The Westlands Water District is implementing a pilot project to treat Golden Mussel infestations within its water infrastructure, specifically targeting laterals 4L and 7R in western Fresno County. The project involves the application of a properly registered copper-based molluscicide designed for use in raw water for agricultural and municipal purposes. The primary objectives are to eradicate the invasive species, prevent its resettlement, and mitigate potential damage to infrastructure to ensure the continued delivery of essential public services. The scope of work includes the application of the molluscicide, regular water quality monitoring, and the assessment of mussel mortality. The project is scheduled to begin as soon as possible and continue through December 2026, although it may conclude earlier if the desired level of control is achieved.
