Prequalification of General Contractors for the City of Hamilton’s Heritage Buildings and Sites

The City of Hamilton is issuing a Request for Prequalifications (RFPQ) under solicitation number C14-10-26 to establish a list of qualified General Contractors experienced in the conservation, restoration, rehabilitation, adaptive re-use, and repair of heritage buildings and sites. This initiative supports the stewardship and maintenance of approximately 39 City-owned heritage properties, including civic museums, properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act, and five National Historic Sites such as the Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology and Griffin House. Prequalified contractors will be eligible to bid on future heritage conservation projects with estimated construction values exceeding 334,000 dollars. Submissions must be made exclusively through the City's electronic bidding system at hamilton.bidsandtenders.ca by the deadline of November 26, 2026, at 3:00 PM Hamilton time. Hardcopy submissions will not be accepted. This procurement process is subject to the Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), and adheres to accessibility standards including the AODA.
