Prequalification: Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex - Expansion and Relocation

The City of Raleigh is seeking the prequalification of first tier subcontractors for the Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Complex Expansion and Relocation project. This construction effort involves a 322,000 square foot expansion located at the current Red Hat Amphitheater site, which will be connected to the existing Raleigh Convention Center via sky bridges across McDowell Street. The new facility will include a 50,000 square foot flex hall, an 18,000 square foot flex hall, a commercial kitchen, meeting rooms, and various administration and support spaces. To be considered for prequalification, firms must submit an application through the BuildingConnected Bid Form module by November 30, 2026. Applicants are required to provide a minimum of one year of audited financial statements, a North Carolina Contractor’s License, a history of projects of similar size and complexity, and detailed safety records including OSHA reports. Evaluation is based on prior performance, capacity and resources, safety history, and legal authorization, with firms needing to score at least 70% of available points to qualify. Notifications regarding prequalification status will be issued by December 18, 2026, with bidding anticipated to begin on January 4, 2027.
