The Naval Supply Systems Command at the Fleet Logistics Center in Jacksonville, Florida, plans to award a sole source contract to Illinois Tool Works, Inc., operating as Instron, for preventative maintenance and calibration services on specific mechanical and hardness testing machines. This award will be made under Simplified Acquisition Procedures since the contract's nature and circumstances limit the sourcing to a single provider. Instron, as the Original Equipment Manufacturer without authorized dealers, is uniquely positioned to provide these services, which include inspection, adjustment, lubrication, calibration, and performance verification of Instron Model 55R1128 and Model 55R450E testers in compliance with relevant ASTM standards and Instron's maintenance protocols. The contract falls under the NAICS code 811219, covering other electronic and precision equipment repair and maintenance, and is designated for a large business size standard. Although the notice of intent to sole source is primarily for informational purposes, the Naval Supply command encourages any other capable sources to respond within two days with clear evidence demonstrating their ability to fulfill the requirement. Lack of a suitable response within this timeframe will result in the award being made exclusively to Instron. Correspondence and responses are directed to the designated contracting officer via email.
