The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, specifically the National Center for Environmental Health's Division of Laboratory Sciences, intends to award a sole source, firm fixed price purchase order to Sigma Aldrich for 140 units of B-glucuronidase enzyme and associated supplies. This specific enzyme, part number G7396-1MU, is required for the validated Tobacco-Specific Nitrosamines analysis method to break glucuronide bonds in samples. The procurement is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation Subpart 12 and simplified acquisition procedures, with a delivery requirement of sixty days following the award. The government has justified this sole source acquisition because Sigma Aldrich is identified as the only supplier capable of meeting the technical requirements necessary for the continuation of laboratory services. The procurement falls under NAICS code 325998. While the agency intends to negotiate directly with Sigma Aldrich, interested parties were given the opportunity to submit capability statements by August 10, 2017, to demonstrate their ability to satisfy the requirement.
