AI Contract Overview

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to enter into a sole-source contract with ALK Abello, Inc. to provide as-needed standardized and custom allergy medications for the UD Medical Center Allergy Clinic. This procurement is conducted under FAR 6.302-1(b)(1)(i) because ALK Abello is identified as the only source capable of meeting the specific requirements and timeframe. Maintaining the current medication formulary is critical, as any changes to the allergenic extracts could cause adverse patient reactions or require the complete restarting of therapy. This notice is a sources-sought action under NAICS code 424210 and is not a request for competitive proposals. While the agency intends to negotiate solely with ALK Abello, interested parties may submit supporting literature to Contracting Officer Jeff Greis by March 30 at 12:01 ET to determine if a competitive procurement is warranted. The final decision to proceed with sole-source negotiations or open the process to competition remains at the sole discretion of the VAPHS Contracting Officer.

The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System (VAPHS) intends to negotiate on a sole-source basis with ALK Abello, Inc., 1700 Royston Lane, Round Rock, TX 78664-9555 for as-needed allergy medications to support the UD Medical Center Allergy Clinic, 30 University Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15240-1000. This notice is NOT a request for competitive proposals and no solicitation document is available.
