The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in Morgantown, WV, is seeking to procure 300 Beryllium Lymphocyte Proliferation Tests (BLPT) as part of a research project studying sensitization to beryllium, a metal linked to chronic lung disease. Currently, NIOSH holds a contract with Specialty Laboratories in Santa Monica, CA, who was selected through a prior competitive process based on cost and technical capability. For consistency and comparability of research data, all additional BLPT tests must be processed by the same laboratory. This notice serves to inform potential sources that may be capable of performing these tests and invites submission of capability statements within seven days. The contract is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value below $100,000 and will be awarded under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1). Since the intent is to confirm if alternative providers exist, no formal solicitation will follow. Should no responses be received within the specified timeframe, the contract will be awarded directly to Specialty Laboratories. All submissions received will be reviewed by the government prior to any award decision, ensuring an open consideration process despite the likely sole source award.
