The Department of Veterans Affairs is establishing a sole source bridge contract with Veterans Medical Supply, Inc. to provide Durable Medical Equipment services for the James Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Florida, and its surrounding community based outpatient clinics. With an estimated cost of 88,000 dollars, the scope of work includes the storage, delivery, installation, and pick-up of government-owned medical equipment. This emergency procurement is justified under the authority of unusual and compelling urgency to prevent a break in essential patient services. The requirement arises because a previous competitive contract was terminated for convenience following a protest. Veterans Medical Supply, Inc. was selected for this temporary arrangement because they currently hold the inventory of equipment, and the pricing is based on the previously competed rates. This bridge contract will remain in effect while a new long-term competitive acquisition is processed.
