The contract addresses the ongoing need for software maintenance to ensure the interoperability of the Situational Awareness Data Link (SADL) between aircraft and ground units. It encompasses a range of services including user support help desks, field support, software sustainment, investigation of user-reported deficiencies, and non-recurring engineering efforts. The contract is structured with a base period of twelve months, followed by four one-year option periods, each potentially including additional "within" year options not exceeding twelve months to support mission-enhancing software updates, contingent upon funding. The total contract duration will not exceed five years. This contract is planned for award on a sole source basis to Raytheon Corporation under FAR 6.302-1, although other interested parties are invited to express their interest or submit proposals, with the government's determination to compete being discretionary. Foreign entities are prohibited from prime contracting roles. The solicitation is expected to be released around July 8, 2013, with proposals due 30 days later, and contract award anticipated by March 3, 2014.
