AI Contract Overview

NASA is discontinuing the Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC) procurement, initially solicited under number NNJ09314047L, due to uncertainties surrounding the Constellation Program, potential changes to the International Space Station’s functionality, and undefined requirements for upcoming programs. As a result, NASA cannot currently define the requirements or establish a scope and independent government estimate necessary for a new competitive contract. Consequently, the existing contract with Science Application International Corporation (SAIC), NNJ06JE86C, will be extended for an additional year with two optional six-month extensions. A new source evaluation process will be initiated once NASA completes its assessment of these program changes. All related procurement documents will be made available online, and interested parties are responsible for monitoring the NASA Acquisition Internet Service (NAIS) for updates, including the release of new solicitations and amendments. Potential offerors must download solicitation documents themselves using the provided NASA websites. This action reflects NASA’s adaptive approach to evolving program needs and ensures continuity of safety and mission assurance engineering support during this period of uncertainty.

General Info

NASA extends SAIC contract one year due to Constellation Program uncertainties and ISS changes.
