The contract involves the removal, disposal, and replacement of ten radial gates at the American Dam, located on the Rio Grande in El Paso, Texas. The project requires manufacturing and installing new radial gates, each measuring 20 feet by 8 feet, to replace the existing gates. Alongside the gates, old side plates and floor sills embedded in concrete for each of the ten openings will be removed and replaced with new stainless steel components. Installation must follow specific drawings and specifications provided by the United States Section of the International Boundary and Water Commission (USIBWC). Work on installation will coincide with the non-irrigation season, from October through February, to minimize disruption as the dam diverts irrigation water to the El Paso Valley, with the channel flow being diverted to allow dry conditions for the replacement. The project is estimated to cost between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000 and is designated as a Small Business Set-Aside. The anticipated performance period is approximately 200 calendar days, though this may be subject to change in the final solicitation. The manufacturing of the radial gates can occur at any time, but the installation must be completed during the dry season under conditions arranged by the USIBWC. This contract is open to all responsible bidders, and the point of contact for further information is Patricia R. Singer, the Contract Specialist. The solicitation number is IBM10B0018.
