This award notice concerns the Cradle Roof Replacement project within the Pisgah National Forest, managed by the USDA Forest Service. Amendment 1 provides critical technical clarifications and modifications to the original solicitation, specifically regarding material specifications and scope of work. Key updates include the requirement for 7.5 inch exposure on all shakes, the use of 20 oz lead coated copper sheet flashing, and the mandate that cedar shakes be graded by the Cedar Shake and Shingle Bureau. Additionally, the amendment removes requirements for ice and water shields, membrane underlayment, and most masonry work, except for flashing tie backing at the chimney. The scope of work is further refined to include the removal and replacement of chinking at the Schencks Office and the use of rough sawn white oak for replacement porch sills at the Commissary. Specific drawing details C2/A5.1 and A3/A5.1 have been deleted as they are no longer applicable. The amendment also expands the porch repair requirements to include the replacement of 2x12, 2x6, and 1x4 trim boards on all three sides.
