The Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office awarded a contract to MAS Consultants, Inc. to provide administrative and technical coordination support services for initiatives funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. With a funding allocation exceeding 1.6 billion dollars, the project focuses on decommissioning surplus nuclear reactor facilities, accelerating transuranic waste disposition, remediating soil and groundwater, and completing area closure at the Savannah River Site. The contractor is responsible for facilitating progress tracking and ensuring all reporting requirements mandated by the Act are met. Due to the evolving nature of the scope of work and the inability to precisely forecast the requirements of the M&O contractor, the agreement was competitively awarded as a Labor Hour Task Order. Because the execution of the work is expected to be intermittent and unpredictable, the government will provide oversight as the scope evolves. The contract is categorized under NAICS code 541611 and was finalized following a solicitation process in 2009.

Full Description

The purpose of this work activity is to provide support to the DOE-SR with expertise in the areas of administrative and technical coordination support services for work conducted at the Savannah River Site under the ARRA. The contractor will serve as facilitator to track progress on ARRA initiatives, prepare and submit reports per the requirements of the Act. With the ARRA funding allocation of more than $1.6 Billion, SRS will decommission surplus nuclear reactor facilities, accelerate transuranic (TRU) waste disposition, remediate soil and groundwater, and complete area closure. The award was competitively awarded as a Labor Hour Task Order due to the Government's inability to forecast or define the M&O contractor's evolving scope of work. The DOE oversight of the contractor's performance of the ARRA scope of work will be intermittent, unpredictable, and undefined as the scope evolves and the work is executed.
