This contract pertains to the development and delivery of a Tilt Rotor Test Rig (TTR) for NASA’s Ames Research Center (ARC) under the Recovery Subsonic Rotary Wing Technology Development program. The task involves designing a rig capable of testing single rotors of approximately 25 feet in diameter in the 40x80 Foot Wind Tunnel and 40-foot diameter rotors in the 80x120 Foot Wind Tunnel. The TTR is designed to support various rotor operating modes including hover, edgewise, conversion, and airplane modes, enabled by wind tunnel turntable rotation to attain maximum airspeeds within each test section. The resulting capability is aimed at advancing next-generation vertical lift aircraft with improved performance and productivity. This opportunity is exclusively available to Bell Textron Helicopter Company under contract number NNA09DA55C and is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The task order will be fully funded via a contract modification and involves no solicitation for proposals, only informational notice. All communications and inquiries must be submitted in writing to the designated NASA contact. The work supports NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate, reinforcing efforts to advance aeronautic technology under the Recovery Act.
