AI Contract Overview
NASA is awarding a sole source contract, 80TECH26P0012, to Red Digital Cinema, Inc. for the acquisition of RED Digital Cinema V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount Cameras to support the Artemis campaign, which is critical to the agency’s mission of safely landing humans on the lunar surface. The timeline for the Artemis missions is tightly constrained, and any delay in camera development or delivery could jeopardize mission success, creating an unusual and compelling urgency that justifies using other than full and open competition under 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(2) and FAR 6.103-2. The cameras are essential for capturing high-fidelity visual data during lunar landing operations, and no other vendor can meet the specific technical, performance, and time-sensitive requirements. The contract is administered by NASA’s It Procurement Office in Greenbelt, Maryland, with performance occurring in Orlando, Florida, and Nicolas Zogaib is the designated point of contact.
