The US Army Natick Soldier Center, representing the Joint Project Management Office - Individual Protection, is conducting a market research initiative to identify materials suitable for field expedient repairs of protective equipment used against chemical and biological threats. These repairs are intended to address rips and tears that occur during field operations under chemical/biological conditions, and the materials sought must be compatible with all current protective clothing ensembles, including suits, boots, gloves, and packaging. The repair materials must maintain the chemical protective properties of the items, offering equivalent protection without degradation. The various materials involved in these protective items include woven, non-woven, and knitted textiles, membranes, vinyl, rubber, elastomers, knit fabrics, impermeable films, nylon foil, and polyethylene. This investigation is focused on innovative, commercially available off-the-shelf materials and requires interested parties to submit detailed information on their repair products, including descriptions, repair procedures applicable at MOPP level 4, methods to confirm successful repairs, ease of transport in the field, costs, company background, experience, and product samples. The government is not offering payments for samples or information and does not intend to award a contract based on this solicitation. Responses must be submitted within 30 days from the synopsis publication, and firms should indicate if they qualify as a small business. Communication and submissions are directed to the US Army Natick Soldier Center, with specific contact provided for questions.
