The contract entails the replacement of swing gate operators at the U.S. Coast Guard Integrated Support Command facility in Kodiak, Alaska. The scope of work involves demolition tasks such as removing existing gate leaves, operators, galvanized steel frames, and key switches, as well as repairing fence and gate posts. Additionally, the contractor will rework and reinstall gate leaves, install new operators and actuators on concrete pads, and place appropriate warning signage following detailed plans and manufacturer instructions. The contractor is responsible for providing all supervision, labor, tools, equipment, materials, and transportation required to complete the work within a 30 to 45-day performance period. This project is a total small business set-aside with an estimated price of less than $100,000 and contractors will be selected based on the lowest price technically accepted. Solicitation packages are available only upon written request—telephone requests are not accepted—and must include complete contact information. Submittals such as manufacturer catalogs, performance charts, and references are required upon contract award, and adequacy of references is critical for contract consideration. Compliance with Coast Guard safety regulations and applicable federal, state, and local environmental standards is mandatory. A site visit is scheduled for August 30, 2011, and while not mandatory, it is highly recommended for prospective bidders to attend.
