The Air Force Medical Evaluation Support Activity (AFMESA) has issued a Request for Information (RFI) to conduct market research on commercially available in-place patient decontamination systems suitable for fixed military medical treatment facilities within the continental United States. This RFI is purely for information gathering; no contract will be awarded, and unsolicited proposals or offers are not being considered. The objective is to identify systems that can effectively and rapidly decontaminate patients exposed to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or explosive hazards, supporting the updated Concept of Operations for in-place patient decontamination developed by Air Combat Command. The desired system must include an easily erectable tent with separate lanes for male, female, and non-ambulatory patients, accommodate simultaneous processing of at least six litter and ten ambulatory patients per hour, and support a minimum throughput of 100 patients without resupply. The tent should be portable by four people, weigh no more than 120 pounds when folded, and fit into a specific footprint. It must be robust enough to withstand wind speeds up to 50 mph and protect users from harsh weather conditions. The system should be set up quickly within specified timeframes, compatible with current heating and water systems, and constructed from materials resistant to bleach and chemical agents. Additionally, on-site training compliant with HAZWOPER standards must be provided to certify personnel, and rapid repair services and detailed manuals are required. Responses are due by January 20, 2006, and all inquiries should be directed to the designated point of contact.
