The City University of New York’s College of Staten Island is seeking market information through a formal Request for Information to identify available Counterfeit Bank Note Detector Equipment that meets specific security and operational features. The College aims to gather detailed technical specifications, including capabilities such as serial number recording, bank-grade counterfeit detection technologies (such as CIS, UV, IR, magnetic, and metallic thread verification), and functionalities to detect altered or defaced smaller denomination bills. The RFI emphasizes that responses are purely informational and do not constitute a binding offer or guarantee of future procurement, nor will they result in immediate contracts. The College intends to use the collected data to inform potential future solicitations, with responses due by December 10, 2025, and questions accepted until November 26, 2025. The solicitation is structured to solicit comprehensive product details, sourcing and compliance information, warranty terms, delivery timelines, and pricing estimates, including optional features and certifications such as MWBE and SDVOB status. While it does not specify a formal contract type or evaluation criteria at this stage, the RFI highlights the importance of meeting bank-grade detection standards, supporting serial number tracking, and ensuring operational reliability. Respondents are instructed to submit their responses via email, adhering to organizational and technical requirements, with the understanding that participation in product demonstrations or responses does not influence future eligibility or procurement decisions. This process is part of the College’s broader effort to enhance its currency verification capabilities in a manner consistent with financial security standards.
