The Town of Brownsburg is soliciting proposals for turn-key professional engineering services to implement improvements along the North Green Street Corridor in Indiana. Based on a traffic impact study conducted by First Group Engineering, the project will follow a recommended approach focusing on traffic warrants and additional lane improvements to minimize overall delay and optimize cost. The scope of work encompasses all design phases from the initial site survey through the creation of construction documents and bid award services, though it specifically excludes construction administration. The project aims for a design notice to proceed on or after October 10, 2025, with construction targeted to begin in the spring of 2026. Specific infrastructure improvements include the installation of traffic signals at Green Street and Loraine Drive and Green Street and Maplehurst Drive, as well as the implementation of right-in right-out intersections at the Kroger entrance and Whittington Drive. Additional modifications include a westbound thru lane at Northfield Drive and converting the eastbound thru lane to an eastbound left thru lane at the westbound ramps to I-74. Because the I-74 ramp intersections fall under INDOT jurisdiction, the selected firm must coordinate with the INDOT Crawfordsville District. All new signal installations must integrate into the existing coordinated system to maintain efficient corridor-wide traffic flow and prevent queuing between closely spaced intersections. Proposals are due by September 10, 2025.

The Town of Brownsburg (TOB) is seeking turn-key professional Engineering services necessary for improvements along the North Green Street Corridor.Earlier this year, First Group Engineering performed a traffic impact analysis of the corridor. The results of this study are attached for reference purposes only. The finalized recommended improvements approach is as follows:“Alternative 2: Traffic Warrants + Additional Lane Improvements. This improvement was found to have the lowest overall delay and the second lowest cost. It should be noted that the intersections of Green St and the I-74 ramps fall under INDOT jurisdiction and thus any improvements to these intersections will require coordination with the INDOT Crawfordsville District. The existing traffic signals along Green Street operate as part of a coordinated system. Any proposed signal installations in this study are intended to integrate with that system to support efficient corridor-wide traffic flow and minimize delay during peak periods. This coordinated system will help closely spaced signalized intersections operate in a way to avoid traffic queues from one signalized intersection backing up into another signalized intersection.”The agreed upon final intersection improvements are below:Green St & Loraine DrTraffic SignalGreen St & Kroger EntranceRight In – Right Out Intersection, Restricted Left TurnGreen St & Northfield DrWestbound Thru LaneGreen St & WB Ramps to I-74Change the Eastbound Thru Lane to an Eastbound Left Thru LaneGreen St & Maplehurst DrTraffic SignalGreen St & Whittington DrRight In – Right Out Intersection, Northbound Right Turn Lane
